Rudy Giuliani Confused

Capital New York reports on Rudy Giuliani's perspective on the takedown that resulted in the death of Eric Garmer:
Officer Daniel Pantaleo can be seen putting an arm around Garner's neck as he and several others wrestle Garner to the ground. Garner can be heard repeatedly saying, “I can’t breathe.”

Giuliani said, “When I look at that video, I can’t tell if it’s a chokehold or [if] it was a move meant to take the guy down.”

He said the officer “does have him [Garner] from the side of the neck, he doesn’t have him from the back of the neck. So, critical to this is, was there real damage done that indicates a chokehold?"

  1. I have had a couple homicide cases involving strangulation. Choking someone is much more dangerous than many believe. The more serious threat is a sudden loss of blood to the brain through compression of the arteries. This can cause death in 60 seconds, maybe less.

If you are ever being choked from behind, consider your life on the line and you must act quickly. The best move is to drop your body and try to throw the fool over your shoulder.
