UPDATE 1

NBC News says a freelance cameraman working for the network has tested positive for Ebola and will be flown back to the U.S. for treatment.

The network reported that the freelancer was just hired Tuesday to be a second cameraman for its medical editor, Nancy Snyderman, a physician. It said the freelancer, who has been working in Liberia for some time, showed symptoms Wednesday,

UPDATE 2

“We are doing everything we can to get him the best care possible,” said NBC News president Deborah Turness in a note to the staff reported by the network.

“We are also taking all possible measures to protect our employees and the general public. The rest of the crew, including Dr. Nancy, are being closely monitored and show no symptoms or warning signs. However, in an abundance of caution, we will fly them back on a private charter flight and then they will place themselves under quarantine in the United States for 21 days – which is at the most conservative end of the spectrum of medical guidance.”

  1. So, this occurred in west Africa not the U.S. (or Dallas). I've been seeing a lot of libertarian (and Christian) people, who are in leading positions and well-known, blowing this. They're supposed to be the leaders of correct and logical thinking not led by fear. Had to unfollow one radio personality from Twitter because she was panicking about Dallas; it was annoying. Saw a libertarians, who I like a lot, call certain people idiots for stating that the virus was not going to spread in the U.S., though it hasn't.

Seen Slate fit a pick of the Ebola graphic picture being only in the mainland U.S. I guess it won't make it to Mexico or Canada because the world revolves around the U.S. Heard that the fear that was generated from Dallas make stocks that pertain to viruses and, probably, Ebola go up. Read about how people are texting each other making sure they're OK, and that they should stay in doors. Texas, of all places! I guess it's a facade. The silver lining: the kids didn't have to be indoctrinated for a couple days.

That's the scary thing. People can be manipulated into doing what other's in powerful positions want like an artist and his brush. If people are so willing to allow their fear to grant the powers that be what they want, what's to stop them from continuing? Or, why would they want to stop? It's too tempting not to. Where are the libertarians and Christians to tell them this information?

Besides, Malaria has been around a lot longer than Ebola. It killed over 600,000 people in 2012 (1 year) alone - a stat that dwarfs Ebola. It's been jumping the Atlantic for years, yet nobody gets up runs in circles panicking about this. We still live.

If it does become like the disaster movie "Outbreak" - I'm talking about a movie - then I have to ask myself "do I want to die as a lemming"?

On a side note: I would have been a bit shocked to hear establishment too, Snyderman, getting the virus.
