HOT Italian Exit Polls Show Renzi's Referendum Losing; Renzi Resigns

Reuters is reporting that Italian exit polls show Prime Minister Renzi's constitutional reform referendum is losing by a clear margin.

As I have previously discussed,  the referendum is an elitist proposal to maintain slipping control. If the referendum fails, it could mean the end for government support of Italian banks and another step toward the breakup of the European Union.

UPDATE 2

Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi has resigned in the wake of the defeat of his referendum.

UPDATE 3

Via the BBC:

In a late-night statement, Renzi said he took responsibility for the outcome. He said the No camp must now make clear proposals.

An exit poll for state broadcaster RAI suggests 42-46% voted to back reform, compared with 54-58% voting No.
