Mugshots of Eight Modest Men

In Kentucky, eight Amish men were sent to jail this week (for 3 to 10 days) over their refusal to comply with a local safety regulation.

According to The Blaze, they say that the mandate, which would require them to post a bright orange triangle on their horse-drawn buggies, violates their modesty code. They use reflective tape instead, but that’s not good enough for local authorities.

Study the look on the faces of these men. It is a look you will likely see more often in America, in corners far from the modest lands of the Amish, decent men being treated as criminals for failing to follow the dictates of the ever more totalitarian state.

  2. I probably infer too much from the photo, but I like the guy in the lower left – looking right at the camera. I just wonder if he’s thinking something like, “You tire me with your tyranny. But I’m not worried, because within a couple of years, you’re going to be coming to me, from a desolate wasteland ruined by your banksters and politicians, begging for me to teach you how to survive.” I wish I had some way of telling these guys they’re my heroes. It’s too bad the cowards in the county where they live haven’t stormed the courthouse demanding that these guys be left alone.

  3. This was an additional slap in the face to these men because Amish also do not want their pictures taken.

What if they forced Hasidic Jews to cut their hair or forced Catholics to eat meat on Fridays?

This is a violation of their 1st Amendment rights.

  4. or remove the Muslim women's veils for a DMV photo?

  6. These retgulations baffle me. I put laws of this sort to a simple test.

    1) Who did it hurt?
    2) Are they willing to prosecute?

No damages, no victim. No victim (willing to prosecute), no crime.

Well said, Andrew T. That would be the right thing to do in a land of the FREE and a home of the BRAVE.

    Not America.

  10. These mean neither harmed nor coerced anyone. Their treatment is sickening. And this, in the "land of the free"!?

  11. @Anons 2:44 and 3:39

How is that possible? Aren't we fighting over in the Middle East to make the world safe for Muslim women to given the right to drive?...which leads to the question as to how they measure up when compared to Asian Women drivers and old men with hats?

  12. New Statist laws:

DWA - Driving while Amish or Asian.
DWOAWAH- Driving while Old and with a Hat.
    DWM - Driving while Muslim.

Probably should not give these government-worshiping people-pusher psychopaths any ideas.

  13. I've admired the Amish since learning that they refused to participate in Social Security from its inception. The feds then stole their cattle, but a court later ruled that the Amish were exempt. They take care of their own elderly.

  14. @Andrew T,

Lol! re: "begging us to teach you how to survive".

I interact w/ quite a few different Amish sects here in Ohio (I'm in the agricultural sector) and I can tell you w/ certainty they are some of the hardest-working, productive, self-sufficient, unintrusive people I have ever met, bar none.

Having said that, I may be incorrect but, I have a feeling that if the scenario you imagined above ever became a reality, the state would probably force these types into the fields as slave labor, a la the ancient Pharoahs' use of the Israelites, due to their high productivity and knowledge of a diverse range of trades so there wouldn't be any begging on the part of the state. Just a gun.

  15. I hired a small group of Amish to build a barn in upstate NY. It only took them 6 days and the thing would just laugh at Katrina.

  16. Didn't the Nazis force homosexuals to wear pink triangles, a washed out version of the red triangles being forced on the Amish in the land of the fear and the home of the knave?

  17. Yes, yes, the Amish, even the short sullen one at the top right, are honest, hardworking, peaceful, benevolent folk. They're persecuted victims whose liberty is being trampled left and right.

Perhaps there are a few saints, too, among them, as I learned from a big dog one morning in Chicago. It seems that she had developed androphobia while under the care of some Amish from whom she was rescued. Now, why would a big dog develop a morbid fear of male humans?

Why do you think that is?

  18. This is proof that there is no such thing as a "victimless crime." These 8 people are clearly victims of state aggression.

  19. What absolutely kills me, looking at the reader comments below _The Blaze_ article, is how many Americans believe that Muslims control the federal regime and that the Amish are being persecuted because they offend Islam.

Never mind that the Obama regime is currently prosecuting at least six undeclared wars against Islamic countries for no coherently expressed reason (though obviously the intent is U.S. and Israeli imperialism). This horde of buffoonish voters think anti-Zionist Muslims are running America, and stopping paleo-Protestants like the Amish is the beginning of their war here on Christianity and Judaism.

In reality, most Muslims in Islamic countries live modest, hardscrabble country lives not unlike the Amish of Ohio and Pennsylvania. (Many homegrown Muslims don't even know what 9/11 is: http://in.news.yahoo.com/many-afghans-ignorant-9-11-attacks-decade-115653032.html .)

Increasingly, our local police departments are filled with veterans of U.S. conquests and occupations who've learned to mass murder traditional locals for no particular reason except that the latter naturally resent foreign occupation and oppression. It should hardly come as a surprise that police are increasingly to get their sociopathic kicks out of persecuting traditional rural denizens in their own land.

  20. @Anonymous 4:11 PM,

    Non-sequitur and irrelevant.

Even if what you are implying is true, the matter at hand is not one of sainthood, nor are their any posts stating or implying such.

  21. they broke law in that state if they use tape its red Whats the differnce in changing it to a orange triangle ?

    ReplyDelete
  22. Now if they were illegal and lived in a sanctuary city....

    ReplyDelete
  23. Glad they're picking them up and making them put the triangle on their carriages when they refuse. It's required for all slow-moving vehicles, the rationale is for everyone's safety on the roads, and nobody should get special treatment based on their religion.

  24. Anon 11:34,

    I hope that was sarcasm.

  25. So, when the fool and his metal Mustang rear-ends the horse buggy going 10 mph, if it only has reflective tape and not an orange triangle, that means the victim becomes the perp, and must pay for the damages as well as the crime, right?

    ReplyDelete
  26. I am unaware of any circumstances in which you are not required to be in control of your vehicle and able to stop it as necessary. You rear end someone, it's your fault. The victim in the case you describe above would be the buggy passengers, triangle or no.

  33. Hello. We are fighting in the Middle East to establish an Islamic Caliphate. Install the Koran as Constitution in Iraq, install the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Libya, etc. This isn't about women's rights. It's about the global domination of Islam and destruction of Christiandom. I thought you understood that. What?? Been watching the MSM and listening to politicians again?? Review the facts. One world Govt coming with Muslims as useful idiots.

  34. The problem with most Americans is that after been falsely told that America is a free country by their TV set, they absolutely, totally, and emphatically have not realized that America HAS BEEN CONQUERED and is a DICTATORIAL POLICE STATE and has been for a long time. How much more proof do you need!
