Mankiw Named Chairman of Harvard Economics Department

Gerg Mankiw always plays his cards right and never rocks the elitist yacht. It's paid off once again. This Romney adviser has just announced that he will head Harvard's economics department. He writes:
As of July 1, I will become the chairman of the Harvard economics department.  I will continue teaching ec 10 and revising my favorite textbooks, but I will have to cut back on my other teaching roles and various professional activities.  In particular, over the next three years, I will blog less and travel less to give talks at other venues.  I will be spending my time trying to make the world's best economics department even better.
Best economics department? Yeah right. It's composed of a bunch of Keynesian econometricians. They haven't had a half-way decent economist on staff  since Joseph Schumpeter. And I am being charitable here for giving Harvard points for Schumpeter. He was, afterall, the president of the Econometric Society (1940–41) and was no way near the clear thinker that his contemporary, Ludwig von Mises, was.
