You will mangle, if not break, your hands if you try this with the wrist-binding zip ties used by police and the military. The zip tie in the video is probably only used by amateur kidnappers.
Unfortunately, those aren't the kind of ziptie restraints typically used by military and police. Police and military use handcuff-style restraints, and the plastic is far more robust than what you will usually find in a hardware store zipties (they're even resistant to knife/razor blades).

I'd have to agree that these restraints are not they same type of restraints use by police. I've been arrested dozens of times for interposing at abortion clinics and have had the police version of the restraints on. Many times the police themselves had difficulty cutting them off.
When I was still in the military we always used one zip tie on each hand, looping them through each other. In addition to that if the detainee (innocent brown person) had a belt or belt loops on their pants you would loop through those as well in order to keep the hands close to the body. The zip ties were often the same ones you can buy in any store, but much thicker than what is shown here.
