New U.S. Sanctions on Iran Aimed at Ending Turkey Trading Gold for Natural Gas

The US Senate is considering new sanctions against Iran that would prevent Iran from getting paid for its natural resource exports in gold bullion.

The new sanctions aimed at reducing global trade with Iran in the energy, shipping and precious metals sectors may soon be considered by the U.S. Senate as part of an annual defense policy bill, senators and aides said on Tuesday, according to Reuters.

The sanctions would end "Turkey's game of gold for natural gas," Reuters reported a senior Senate aide as saying, referring to reports that Turkey has been paying for natural gas with gold due to sanctions rules.

The legislation "would bring economic sanctions on Iran near de facto trade embargo levels with the hope of speeding up the date by which Iran's economy will collapse," the aide said.

This is really evil. The Iranian people are not the Iranian leadership.

  1. Once again, the U.S. government is on the wrong side of the argument.

The only thing that will restrain the evil actions of our government is when the dollar fails.

I think that day is coming soon.

  2. How do the proposed sanctions prevent other countries from trading with Iran, exactly? Is it proposed that the US govt sanction any countries that trade with Iran? If so that would be both evil and idiotic.

    1. Turkey has already fired back, saying they're not part of the EU so they don't have to listen. Well, the roundabout way for the imperial yankees to get what they want is to threaten banks and financial orgs that facilitate the exchanges with being excluded from the US and global financial systems. Funny thing is, by being forced to basically monetize gold for the Iranians, the Turks have pulled a nifty trick of artificially narrowing their controversial current account deficit (as the de facto monetized gold is counted as a good being exported rather than as what it is: a medium of exchange).

  3. The illusory Iranian nuke program, much like the non-existent Iraqi WMD scare in 2002-2003, is nothing but a scam, one intended to frighten the rubes into accepting yet another stupid, self-defeating war.

The real goal is control of resources and to placate Israel. Oil, empire, and Israel. America's liberties and economic well-being are being sacrificed to these ends.
