  1. This is more about the personality of the driver than anything.

Volvo: Mostly old people and hypies that keep their vehicles forever.
Jag: Mostly old people and people pretending to be rich driving 1980s style ones that are creating a scewed average.
Buick: Old people that barely drive
Mitsubishi: Young kids buying old cars cheap and rocketing them up creating a scewed number.
Lincolin: Old people that barely drive
Ford, Chrysler, Dodge: Poor people in rural Amerika. Until recently these were relatively low tech crap cans that you could just keep fixing. There are millions of these on the road getting constantly fixed because you can buy them from $500 and keep them going forever, but most people haven't figured out that doing so costs more than if they invested in a good car.

The only oddity in the list is Infiniti. My guess after owning 2 of them is that it's a combination of the buyer buying into luxury on a 6 year loan and that they're cars that are almost indestructible and work REALLY REALLY well so people fall in love with them and just keep them (that and a 2007 G35 looks almost identical to a 2013 one). As a result they hang on to them longer even though they're 30 somethings with very up-middle-class money...

But again this list is about the driver and not the quality of the car. Ford is at the very bottom of reliability as is Jag, Buick, Lincoln, Chrysler, and Dodge. These things fall apart A LOT. So it definitely isn't about a car that isn't going to cost you much to fix.

And Camrys and Altimas are commodity good crap that gets dumped after the 4 years is up for a new one. There is no inspiration of attachment, it's just utility so they're gone quickly unlike the Infiniti.
