Obama's "Grand Bargain"

WaPo's Bob Woodward discussed this morning on Meet the Press a "grand bargain" proposal the White House was prepared to make in order to reach agreement with the House Republicans last year. Meet the Press posted the document that Woodward obtained, which outlined the proposal.

So what exactly is in the Obama "Grand Bargain"? More taxes and messing with cost of living adjustments. The proposal includes:

1. Apply the "superlative CPI" for social security. This would slow cost of living adjustments for those on SS.

2. "An enactment of fundamental tax reform." TRANSLATION: Raise taxes.

  1. Last time I checked, bargain, means I give something you give something, this seems more like an ultimatum than a 'bargain'.
