Jersey Loves Judas Christie

This is a sad commentary on the masses. They really do love politicians who promise give aways.

NJ Governor Chris Christie support has soared in the polls in the follow up to Hurricane Sandy. He has lambasted federal legislators for being slow in passing out freebies to the people of  his state.

Three-quarters of New Jersey voters approve of  Christie's job performance and nearly seven in 10 say he deserves to be elected to a second term in November, according to a Quinnipiac University poll, reports Reuters.

  2. That's why I think anarcho-capitalism is hopeless, because everyone is never going to agree with us. It's sad but true, they just don't have the mental capacity to understand it or the emotional ability to tolerate not having political leaders. Who are like gods to them, just look at how so many people worship Obama. Whereas as I've said before, it would only take around 34% agreeing with us to win elections as a third party. Which in itself is a long shot but how many more would it take to actually establish anarchy, Like 95 or 100%? Even an imperfect libertarian candidate like Gary Johnson would be much much better than what we have now.

    1. Everyone does not have to agree. But what you're describing is one hundred years of state indoctrination in the guise of "education." Give the homeschooling movement, among other more liberty-friendly trends, time to bear their fruits.

    2. Right now that is correct. But imagine a couple decades from now when millions have opted out of public education and have gone through Ron Paul style home schooling programs. Along with the disappearing power of the mainstream media, things look bright in the long run, but in the short term we have no chance.

    3. I do think that full adherence to the non-aggression axiom should always be the ideal, which would mean no government. But that we shouldn't let that ideal be the enemy of trying to fight to attain as much liberty as is realistically possible in the here and now. And that's what I believe happens when libertarians say that they're not going to vote for libertarian candidates for philosophical reasons. If at some point a huge amount of people expressed in opinion polls and things that they seriously wanted to get rid of government completely, only at that point would voting for limited government candidates be supporting government. Obviously the world we live in right now is nothing like that.

  3. The icing on the cake so to speak is the recent passage of a bill in NJ senate, authored by a senator who is a union organizer, which expands PLAs for the Sandy relief moneys.

  4. The first time I went north of the Mason-Dixon line was two years ago, to northern New Jersey. It was an eye opener. The State is anywhere and everywhere. They don't trust people for the simplest things. I pulled into a NJ gas station to fill up my tank and a clerk, in some fluorescent bib, came storming out as I tried to gas up my own vehicle. I wasn't allowed to self serve, which where I'm from is usually something your 12 year old takes care of. Then I tried to tip the fellow and I wasn't allowed to do that either. I go inside the store to buy some beer and I look around and I see zero alcohol. I ask the clerk where the beer is and they tell me to go to the State run store. Once I found it, located in some back alley, I enter and it was essentially the worst run store I've ever been in. I've never entered a crack house, but if you could merge a convenient store with a crack house this is what I imagine it would look like: Dark, unwelcoming, cluttered, scattered brained merchandising, jerk clerks, etc..

The roads are setup so you cannot turn left, at least in New Brunswick. I understand why they do this, to keep traffic flowing, and for purposes of space. But unless you are traveling straight down the highway it is a disaster. If you must make several stops, and these stops are on opposite sides of the highway, then what in most states would take you 8-10min can literally take you 45min in NJ. Not to mention the taxes, specifically on lodging, are outrageous. And it makes sense. When the State is involved in this many menial activities you've got to confiscate a ton of wealth to fund them.

So when I listen to this Christie guy all these memories from when I was there two years ago come flowing back, and I get irritated not only with what he has to say, but the overall experience our group had in that horrendous state.

    1. lol I forgot about no-self serve gasoline. Progressives always talk about moving forward and not going backward, but not being able to fill up one's own gas tank is a throwback to the 1950s if I have ever seen one.

  5. I'm from New Jersey and I think Christie should be running a deli at best. He must know where the good sandwiches are in Trenton.

  6. Judging from his photos, I seriously think Christie is going to end up with a heart attack in the not so distant future.

  7. Looking at that picture, Christie looks like a typical union-legbreaker.

  9. @Dave & co

Now that we have found som Earth-like planets in other nearby solar systems, it would be possible for us humans to migrate to them, and establish our own perfect paradise liberty world.

Here is one of them: http://www.usnews.com/news/articles/2012/10/17/earth-like-planet-found-in-nearest-star-system

    1. You actually think states would allow private citizens to live free on other planets?

Trust me. Those planets will be colonized by *states* long before anyone can even dream of escaping the clutches of politicians.

  10. I think Judas Christie stuck his finger in the air, and determined the wind was blowing in the direction of Democrat land. Like Chuck Hagel.

I think you're going to see a lot more elephants decide to turn donkey on us, if I'm any judge of spineless opportunistic power grabbers.
