Snowden Responds to the Charge He is a Spy for China

During an internet Q&A via the Guardian, he wrote:

This is a predictable smear that I anticipated before going public, as the US media has a knee-jerk "RED CHINA!" reaction to anything involving HK or the PRC, and is intended to distract from the issue of US government misconduct. Ask yourself: if I were a Chinese spy, why wouldn't I have flown directly into Beijing? I could be living in a palace petting a phoenix by now.

  1. lol...is the "petting a phoenix" reference to Harry Potter, who he looks like a little bit?

Anyone have an answer on that one they care to share with me?

It's good to see he's smart AND has a sense of humor.

  2. If he was a spy for China, he would still be there spying on us. Why would a spy for China blow his own cover?
