Even More Major U.S. Retailers Suffered Attacks on Their Credit Card Information Systems

Target Corp and Neiman Marcus are not the only U.S. retailers whose networks were breached over the holiday shopping season last year, according to sources familiar with attacks on other merchants that have yet to be publicly disclosed, reports Reuters

Smaller breaches on at least three other well-known U.S. retailers took place and were conducted using similar techniques as the one on Target, according to the people familiar with the attacks.

  1. Thank you NSA, I mean, National Security Agency, for helping to detect vulnerabilities in widely deployed communications systems, for paying sleazy hackers to find vulnerabilities for you, for creating the exploits to use the vulnerabilities, deploying said exploits in the wild with abandon, and then doing exactly nothing to fix the vulnerabilities. Now, when bad people use these vulnerabilities, you can scream "cyber attack" and use that to argue that you need even more money and resources to keep American business enterprises "secure".

Good job NSA! I'm sure you spent your (stolen) resources well - in creating future jobs your yourselves. It was a good strategy to recognize early that you work for a gang of nincompoops who completely fail at understanding how the real world works.
