Occupations with the highest number of employees in May 2012 are shown below, with data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Total employment in these occupations ranged from about 2.1 million for secretaries and administrative assistants, except legal, medical, and executive, to over 4.3 million for retail salespersons.
