Hopefully the hijackers aren't planning to use the plane to deliver a bomb but that is a possibility. Fly low over the ocean to the port city of your choice undetected by radar. Seems unlikely - they'd have to kill all the passengers or hold them hostage. But the radical Muslims who hate us and want to kill us are insane in their hatred so do not act rationally. Hopefully we'll know soon so the passengers' families have some closure.

DeleteAlso worth noting that one minute before the airplane made a 180° turn, Malaysian ATC handed the flight of to Vietnamese ATC. The flight crew acknowledged the handoff but did not check in with Vietnam. Long handoffs are not uncommon but the Vietnamese controller would have noticed the turn and inquired as to status immediately.
ReplyDeleteThe plane was shot down and now a cover story is being assembled. They scramble jets minutes after deviation. That's why the news has been reporting a misdirection since the beginning saying that they are looking for debris. They knew what was going on the minute it happened and don't want to say the debris field covers miles because it got shot down. Why believe them when they say its like looking for a needle in a haystack.
