Shimon Peres to Receive Congressional Gold Medal

President Shimon Peres, the president of the 51st state of the United States, Israel, will be awarded the Congressional Gold Medal on Thursday, in the Rotunda of the US Capitol.

“The intent and goal of the legislative process awarding the Congressional Gold Medal to President Peres which will culminate in the Ceremony itself is to send a strong message to the world that the Congress of the United States by virtue of 2/3 of its members co-sponsoring the legislation stands shoulder to shoulder with the State of Israel,”said  Ezra Friedlander, CEO of  The Friedlander Group, the powerful government advocacy firm that stick handled the award presentation bill.

Mitch McConnell, John McCain, Elizabeth Warren and John “Jay”Rockefeller were among the 81 co-sponsors. It passed the Senate with unanimous consent.

In the House, Michelle Bachmann was among the co-sponsors.
