Why Is the Pope Such a Materialist?

I have always found it curious that many, of those who loudly claim that life should be less about material wealth, are so concerned that some may have more material wealth than others. Isn't that a materialist focus?

  1. It is increasingly intolerable to have socialists in high places, like pope francis and bernie sanders, pontificating on markets, which they know nothing about. Oh, the irony.

  2. The Pope is correct in his assessment; he is, of course, wrong in his proposals for a cure.

  3. Complaining about someone's materialism because they have said that financialisation is bad for society, as a whole, is a pretty classic case of total misunderstanding of what financialisation is. Financialisation is precisely not material--which is at the root of its malevolence. What the pope is decrying is the inordinate "wealth" in dematerialised securities and "financial products" that are traded in the casino daily. There is no longer any real connection of this type of financialised "wealth" with real assets, real production, real people.

  4. I'm wondering if the pope himself suffers from Envy or is just influenced by the combined force of the envy of others.
