Ukraine’s president Petro Poroshenko urged Washington on Thursday to provide weapons to his country’s military as he received a rapturous welcome from Congress, reports FT.
Yes, the man who replaced, following a coup, a democratically elected president of Ukraine, was cheered by Congress, as he asked for more U.S. weapons to fight those who have been in uproar in eastern Ukraine since the coup.
FT reports, “Blankets, night-vision goggles are important, but one cannot win the war with blankets,” he said.
“The picture of President Poroshenko sitting in the Oval Office will be worth at least a thousand words – both in English and Russian,” said White House spokesman Josh Earnest.
