Breakfast Routine Communism at McDonald's?

There is a terribly unfair commercial out by Taco Bell attacking McDonald's.

It portrays McDonald's and its breakfasts as a routine that one would have to suffer through under a mind numbing centrally planned-type government regime.

It should be noted that a McDonald's breakfast has nothing to do with a centrally planned and directed life. No one is forced to go to a McDonald's. I haven't been to a McDonald's in ages but, that many go, suggests that they prefer the price and food relative to other options.

That said. there is subversive tone to this ad that goes beyond McDonald's and suggests rebellion against centrally planned authority. It's the kind of impression that can be a life long teaching moment for the masses, especially the young, to rebel against centrally planned regimes.

A tiny seed for the next rebellion may have just been planted. -RW

  1. Robert, if you enjoyed that ad and that theme you should definitely check out "The Lego Movie" if you haven't yet.

  2. It's kind of sad that many people eat any meal at either frankenfood outlet. Chemicals, Pesticides, GMO's,, all processed frankenfood. I enjoyed the commercial, but it's kind of like comparing Democrips to Rebloodlicans, there really isn't much difference between the two!

  3. So what if they depict Soviet central planning instead of Mussolini central planning? I'll call a spade a spade.

The McUSDA subsidized menu engineered by anti-fat quacks and sugar addicts is the standard at nearly every restaurant. What sort of choice is that?

I challenge anyone to find a food item at Taco Bell which is not made out of dwarf wheat, HFCS, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, or otherwise drenched in Roundup like it's a condiment.

    Burn this into your memory:

"I would only argue that senators don't have the luxury that a research scientist does of waiting until every last shred of evidence is in."

...and then millions of people became amorphous blobs with type 2 diabetes, cancer, dementia, acid reflux, allergies, and autotimmune disorders.

This is no less a central planner scam than climate scaremongering. In fact, they regularly go hand in hand:

  4. Complain all you want about GMOs, chemicals and pesticides - I'm just happy to see a major corporation in this day and age depicting communism in a negative light. One more Obama-like president and this type of dystopian add could very well be illegal.

  5. Deeper meaning is probably accidental rather than intentional. The clever writing of old TV that would get past the corporate gatekeepers is pretty much dead. Shallow recycling of old ideas is the common way to go these days. IMO They are invoking a classic Wendy's commercial from the 1980s:

  6. I enjoyed this commercial, but I like the comments better. As Matt said, if you haven't seen Lego Movie, you are missing out.
