How to Make Seductive Nonsensical Causal Arguments





Use numbers.

From page 98 of the 1993 Reissue edition of Darrell Huff’s classic 1954 volume, How to Lie With Statistics:
Permitting statistical treatment and the hypnotic presence of numbers and decimal points to befog causal relationships is little better than superstition.  It is often more seriously misleading.
