A Crooked Derivatives Trader With a Sense of Humor

Nick Leeson, a former derivatives broker whose fraudulent, unauthorised trading caused the spectacular collapse of Barings Bank, the United Kingdom's oldest merchant bank, tweets out:


Leeson pleaded guilty to two counts of "deceiving the bank's auditors and of cheating the Singapore exchange" and served prison time in Changi Prison in Singapore.

  1. It's interesting. It all seems so arbitrary as to who goes to jail (or even gets indicted) versus who gets off scott free. I guess this guy didn't have the right friends.
