Treasury Department Sued Over Steve Mnuchin and His Trophy Wife's Attempt to Live a Carly Simon Moment at Fort Knox

Muchin and trophy wife as Trump looks on.
The government ethics watchdog group CREW has announced it is suing the Treasury Department for records related to Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin and his wife’s trip to Fort Knox, after the couple used a government plane to travel to Kentucky during last month’s solar eclipse and viewed it from atop Fort Knox, in a total in you face Carly Simon "You're So Vain" moment!

From the suit (my highlight):

Factual Background

12. On August 21, 2017, Secretary Mnuchin and his wife Louise Linton, a
private citizen, travelled to Lexington, Kentucky. The purported purpose of the trip was
for the Secretary, along with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, to present
remarks at a luncheon sponsored by Greater Louisville Inc., the Louisville chamber of
commerce.

13. After the luncheon, Secretary Mnuchin and his wife went to Fort Knox,
where it was reported that they toured the bullion reserve at the Army post and viewed
the solar eclipse. Fort Knox was just outside the path of the eclipse's totality.

14. The trip set off a public firestorm when Secretary Mnuchin's wife posted
on Instagram a photo of herself deplaning from a government aircraft dressed from head
to toe in luxury brands, which she identified by designer name and tagged on her
Instagram image. In response to a comment on the post, Ms. Linton snapped back in a
post that was highly critical of the commenter and defended her lavish lifestyle and the
government-paid trip.

  1. It's amusing that using confiscated taxpayer money for this jaunt is regarded by CREW as worthy of creating an ethical fuss, but using confiscated taxpayer money to fund the killing foreigners in their own lands is not. Something seems wrong with the value scale. If our money is going to be taken anyway, I'd trade Linton going on shopping sprees all day over killing other humans.

    1. There are some serious lacunae in the perceptions of the Murkin people. BTW, it's obvious she's enraptured by his killer good looks and nothin' to do with money for Pete's sake.
