Neo-Con Mort Zuckerman Ensnared in Madoff Ponzi Scheme

Neo-conservative real estate mogul, Mort Zuckerman, who is publisher/owner of the New York Daily News and U.S. News & World Report, and frequent panelist on The McLaughlin Group is a reported victim of Bernard Madoff's $50 billion Ponzi scheme.

"According to a person familiar with the business of the real estate and publishing magnate Mort Zuckerman, he is also on a list of victims," NYT is reporting.

Zuckerman donated $10,000 to Senator Joe Lieberman's primary campaign in 2006 when Lieberman was being strongly challenged by an anti-Iraq-War liberal Democrat, Ned Lamont.

In their book, The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy, John Mearsheimer, political science professor at the University of Chicago, and Stephen Walt, academic dean of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, named Zuckerman as a member of the media wing of the "Israeli lobby" in the United States. Zuckerman replied: "I would just say this: The allegations of this disproportionate influence of the Jewish community reminds me of the 92-year-old man sued in a paternity suit. He said he was so proud, he pleaded guilty."
