While numbers were down through Christmas, some of that could have been made up by the fact that Christmas fell on a Thursday, thus there was a large long weekend lead-in shopping window of Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
My guess is that there will be more of a chance for upside surprises, then downside, given that we are in a period of movement toward the consumption-savings ratio moving in favor of consumption.
