Of course, the illogic of Obama's defense explodes when one realizes that GW operated "...entirely consistent with free-marke principles..." as often as Ben Bernanke has stood up for a fixed money supply policy.
But, it is interesting to note that even NYT is wondering if the President is a socialist (It was an NYT reporter who asked Obama if he was a socialist).
If you parse his phone call, it's really absurd. E.g. Bush's socialism consisted of a massive new prescription drug benefit "without specifying a solid source of funding" (or something like that).
ReplyDeleteSo apparently a new entitlement program is "free market" so long as you hike up taxes to pay for it.
Melbourne's "The Age" business columnist David Hirst recent piece combines the right diagnosis with the wrong prescription.
