Pravda: America's Descent into Marxism is Happening with Breath Taking Speed

Pravda, Russia's leading news organization, has reprinted an article that originally appeared at the Russian blog, Mat Rodina. Does the average Russian understand what is going on in America, better than the average American does?

Here are key excerpts:

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people...

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America's short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.
..

......the very thieves ,,,[with]l their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison...

These men, of course, are not an elected panel but made up of appointees picked from the very financial oligarchs and their henchmen who are now gorging themselves on trillions of American dollars, in one bailout after another. They are also usurping the rights, duties and powers of the American congress (parliament). Again, congress has put up little more then a whimper to their masters.

Then came Barack Obama's command that GM's (General Motors) president step down from leadership of his company. That is correct, dear reader, in the land of "pure" free markets, the American president now has the power, the self given power, to fire CEOs and we can assume other employees of private companies, at will. Come hither, go dither, the centurion commands his minions.

So it should be no surprise, that the American president has followed this up with a "bold" move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantee of automobile policies. I am sure that if given the chance, they would happily try and redesign it for the whole of the world, too. Prime Minister Putin, less then two months ago, warned Obama and UK's Blair, not to follow the path to Marxism, it only leads to disaster. Apparently, even though we suffered 70 years of this Western sponsored horror show, we know nothing, as foolish, drunken Russians, so let our "wise" Anglo-Saxon fools find out the folly of their own pride...

The proud American will go down into his slavery with out a fight, beating his chest and proclaiming to the world, how free he really is. The world will only snicker.

Again, the American public has taken this with barely a whimper...but a "freeman" whimper.

In other news, the Rasmussen daily tracking poll shows 59% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance so far.

The poll for Friday shows that 37% of the nation's voters now Strongly Approve of the way that Obama is performing his role as President. Twenty-seven percent (27%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of +10.

  2. It is a common mistake to think that pravda.ru is the newspaper, when it really is only an on-line magazine. Pravda the newspaper is not online. Notice that on pravda.ru it says "published since 1999".

Further, neither Pravda.ru nor Pravda are leading Russian news organizations. Pravda is barely read anymore (being as boring as in the Soviet days), while pravda.ru is only online, and therefore reachable by barely 20% of the Russian population. It is also a largely insane outfit - a bit like Fox New, MSNBC, and National Inquirer rolled into one.
A leading Russian news organization would be Izvestia or Kommersant.
The average Russian has no clue what's going on in America anymore than the average American has no clue what's going on in Russia.
Just thought you would benefit from knowing this.

  3. @James Rothfeld

Thanks for the correction in the headline :) and for the insight on Pravda.ru.

Do you know if it is influenced by the Russian government, like the newspaper seemed to be (especially during the Cold War years.)? It seems to have that anti-American edge.

  4. As far as I know, the Government leaves it pretty much alone. Journalists in Russia - just like almost everywhere else - now pretty well what they can say and what they cannot say. It depends to some degree on the readership of the paper: if it is on-line only, and does not have too many readers, it has far more freedoms.
But, one of the leading opposition radio stations in Russia (Echo Moskvy) is financed by Gazprom, the quasi state-run natural gas giant.
One of the most hard-edged critics of Putin and Medvedev - Yulia Latynina - remains untouched, even though she is continuously writing extremely critical articles in a fairly widely-read newspaper, and is regularly on that above-mentioned radio station.
Generally, it seems that journalists die when they start annoying people much lower down the totem-pole than the president or prime-minister.
    It's a strange country.
