Google Takes Down Mike Shedlock's Site

Steve comments at another EPJ post:
I don't know what has happened yet, but Google took down Mike Shedlock's site, http://globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com/

Wenzel, do you have a backup plan? Expressing unpopular opinions is getting more and more dicey, especially where The Goog is concerned.

ZeroHedge moving offshore a few months back seems more and more rational.

Sometimes these sites are taken down for short periods after a complaint and then put back up. I have no specific information on the Goog-Mish situation.

That said, I don't think Goog should be singled out.

Last year, I was on Word Press when I reported on FACTUAL negative news relating to Barrack Obama. My site was taken down by Word Press.

Since then, and I don't want to go into details for obvious reasons, I have taken measures that provide me with a little additional protection.

Bottom line: I am very happy with all the services Google provides me, and I use a lot, way beyond the basics like gmail. I use Google voice, wave etc. If they launch something, I am usually an early adopter. For me that is saying something. But proper backup is essential in this day and age.

UPDATE: 1:05 PM ET- I just got off the phone with Mish's office. They just learned that his site is down. Mish is attempting to reach Google to find out the problem.

  1. That's the least of your problems. Wait until the EPJ contributors try to unionize!

  2. I set up The Daily Capitalist independent of Google and WordPress. Always best to control your own site.

Ha, went for the old "I've planted secret explosives around the house of your loved ones" trick with the GOOG employees, eh? Good thinking!
