No Risk of Greek Default, Finance Minister Says

File under: Nothing is confirmed, until it is officially denied.

There is no risk Greece will default on its debt, Greek Finance Minister George Papaconstantinou said Wednesday, in an interview with Bloomberg Television. "We're moving swiftly to reassure citizens and markets that we're moving in the right direction," he said. Fitch Ratings on Tuesday downgraded Greece's sovereign debt rating to BBB+ from A-, making the nation the first in the euro zone to be rated less than single A.
