How the Republican Party Could Collapse

As I have pointed out below, a victory today by Republican Scott Brown in the special election in the heavily Democratic state of Massachusetts will certainly feed the fires of anti-big government types.

Ironically, the Republican victory could actually push the party toward disintegration.

James Ostrowski has a short blog post at LRC that explains how this could occur.

  1. This is wishful thinking, but I hope they do go under and never get replaced.

    More fantasy-- I hope the democrats implode next.

  2. I got so disgusted with the Republicans after TARP, I changed my registration to Independent (my only option in Oklahoma). When I finally get a permanent residence in Texas, I'll register as a libertarian or Constitution Party.

    A pox on both their houses. If the Republicans collapse first, I'm not going to cry too many tears.

  3. “I heartily accept the motto, ‘That government is best which governs least’;
    and I should like to see it acted up to more rapidly and systematically.
    Carried out, it finally amounts to this, which also I believe — ‘That
    government is best which governs not at all’; and when men are prepared for it,
    that will be the kind of government which the will have.”
