Short-term money market rates jumped higher yesterday. The three-month London interbank offered rate, or Libor, for dollars rose to 0.428% on Friday, the highest since last August. LIBOR generally stays within 5 basis points of the effective Fed funds rate which is currently trading around 0.20%
