Krugman Logic On Why Libertarianism Doesn't Work

Paul Krugman is at it again.

He has come up with this doozy:

Proof that libertarianism doesn't work:

Through government legislation, corrupt legislators are going to intervene in the markets and distort what a free market (libertarian) world would look like, therefore libertarianism doesn't work. Thus we need corrupt legislators to make more regulations.

I'm not kidding, check it out.

  1. Frank Carlucci, Chairman Emeritus of The Carlyle Group, said a variation of this, only he left out the attack on libertarians.

  3. With the exception of Hayek all the winners the Nobel prize for economics have been shills for central banking. After all, unlike all the others, the econ prize was established and funded by the Swedish central bank.

  4. I managed to get a comment on Krugman’s nonsensical post published here.

There were many others from non-libertarians like this one:

    "Wow Paul,

I am not a Libertarian, but your argument here is so disingenuous that it makes me question the rigor of your thinking across the board. Libertarianism doesn't require incorruptible politicians, it requires politicians that would implement policies based on Libertarian principles. Capping damages on lawsuits is so obviously un-Libertarian, I can't believe you made this argument with a straight face. Are we misunderstanding you? Many have called you out on this -- I hope you will respond in a future post."

Virtually everything ever written by Krugman is just as stupid and dishonest as this. We must be right if this is the best that our opponents can come up with.
