It's gotten so bad that scholars are beginning to openly question President Obama's agenda.
Thomas Sowell, senior fellow of the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and recipient of the National Humanities Medal for prolific scholarship and the the Bradley Prize for intellectual achievement, writes in a column titled,A Golden Age for Ignorant Power:
Whether President Obama is simply incompetent or has some hidden agenda to undermine this country, at home and abroad, he has nearly everything he needs to ruin America, including a fool for a Vice President.
I do enjoy the writings of Prof Sowell. He is truly a leading scholar of our time. But the problem with scholars is they are part of the education establishment. As von Mises observed in his book Bureaucracy: "Education rears disciples, imitators, and routinists, not pioneers of new ideas and creative geniuses."
ReplyDeleteObama himself is also a product of the education establishment. And so when a scholar critiques a politician like Obama we have two people who are products of the "conservatories of tradition and unvarying modes of thought" arguing about who has plucked the better ideas from history. Not a discussion that is likely to "add something new" to our understanding.
The fact that scholars are beginning to question Obama's agenda is not an indication of how "bad" our situation is, its an indication of how sadly normal and routine it is. And how unchanging.
Hidden? This agenda is out in plain sight for anyone with their eyes open.
