Serious Deflation in D.C.

Long term EPJ readers know I have pretty much traveled up and down this land called America. This means I know a bargain when I see one. The most remarkable prices I have ever seen on clothing and accessories, I am not making this up, are from a small shop in Washington D.C.

The shop carries men's clothes (including suits and sport coats), luggage, perfumes and handbags. Now what makes this situation even more interesting is that the store is closing, so the prices are even lower than normal. The clothes are quality all name brand.

The lease has expired and the store owner, Mr. Singh, is looking for a new location, but that won't happen right away. It isn't like he is high-tailing it out of town, though. Mr. Singh also has a warehouse he operates and he tells me he has a small shop for the FBI on the cafeteria level of their building.

I can see why the FBI wants to keep an eye on Mr. Singh, the prices are just amazing for really top quality stuff. Mr. Singh tells me that a Senator from Alaska has told him that he is the only person in Washington D.C. that is really doing anything for the country.

All of which is to say, if you need any clothing or accessories, now is the time to head to American Gift Center, just a couple of blogs from the White House, at 1629 K St NW before the shop is closed at the end of June.

Oh, and here is a bonus for EPJ readers, tell Mr. Singh that "Bob sent you from EconomicPolicyJournal.com" and you get an additional 10% off the already discounted prices.

The store is open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday through Friday and from noon to 4:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The store closes on June 30.
