U.S. Mint Sells 190,000 Gold Coins in May

The U.S. mint sold 190,000 1-ounce American Eagle gold coins in May, the largest number since January 1999, and the most in any month so far in 2010.

The mint doesn't break down the sales any further, but given the news we reported on earlier in the month of heavy gold coin accumulation in Germany. It's probably a good bet that a huge chunk of May's sales went to Germany and other points across the pond.
