Geithner and the Boss' Wife

On Wednesday morning, Treasury Secretary Geithner and First Lady Michelle Obama will thank Treasury employees for their public service in remarks from the Cash Room.

In the afternoon, the Secretary will meet with the President and Vice President at the White House

  1. "When the Cash Room opened officially in June it functioned principally as a "banker's bank," supplying area commercial banks with coins and currency f rom Treasury vaults and handling the government accounts of the District of Columbia. Services were also offered to the public, including cashing of government checks, exchanging new money for old, redeeming silver certificates and gold certificates, and selling U.S. Treasury bonds."

    Ah, the good old days.

  2. The Cash Room sounds like a place where good little central bankers get to go when they've behaved themselves especially well and have earned a special prize from Big Daddy Government.
