Governor Patterson Ends Data Collection on Some Innocents

Gov. David Paterson signed legislation today that eliminates a database of thousands of people stopped and frisked by New York City police without facing charges, calling the practice "not a policy for a democracy."

Naturally, the NYC police chief, Ray Kelly, and NYC Mayor Bloomberg are blasting Patterson's action.

The legislation actually falls in line with my call for an THE INNOCENT PERSON'S ACT which would require the destruction, within 24 hours, of all tracking material such as photographs, DNA and fingerprints, if a person is found innocent or charges against him or if such charges are dismissed.

  1. That would be a good act to pass. I don't like all the collection of DNA that's coming forth. When they start demanding blood or mouth swabs to renew a drivers license then I'll simply stop renewing and see how long I can go.
