According to just released logs by the Treasury, Geithner and Blankfein during the period January 2009 to March 2010 were in touch by phone or in face to face meetings a remarkable 38 times.
Writes HuffPo:
Goldman CEO Lloyd Blankfein has... three more entries [on Geithner's calendar] than Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, 13 more than House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and nearly four times as many as Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader John Boehner combined....The imbalance is striking, considering that Geithner was heavily involved in financial regulatory reform legislation, which Congress was grappling with during the period covered by the calendar.
I was at first surprised that there were no comments here, but now I understand... it's just the sense of hopelessness: as in every treasury secretary throughout history maybe being owned by the financial institutes of the time. Robber barons don't die, they just go to work for the govt.
