It's Time for a Lady Godiva Moment

Bob McTeer explains:

I must confess that I wasn’t familiar with a “Lady Godiva moment.” As a philistine, my knowledge of Lady Godiva is limited to a mighty fine looking image of the lady on her horse and the mighty fine, but over-priced, chocolate bars at Barnes and Nobel cash registers. I did some limited research to find her “moment” to which the author referred.

One possibility was the moment preceding the surgeon’s incision as he began operating on her brain—this from a Velvet Underground song. The other possibility, more likely and more to my liking, was the moment of her decision to accept her husband’s challenge to ride through the town sans clothing to win tax relief for the townspeople.

So, there you have it. Lady Godiva was a supply side tax cutter. Delicious. I may be wrong about the moment, but this one is too good to pass over. As the country song says, “Don’t tell it like it is; tell it like it ought to be.”
