Military Pushes Silicon Valley to Second Tier Growth Standing

Area The 2010 Milken Institute Best-Performing Cities Index which ranks U.S. metropolitan areas by how well they are creating and sustaining jobs and economic growth, is out.

The components include job, wage and salary, and technology growth. In most years, these give a good indication of the underlying structural performance of regional economics, says the Milken Institute.

The big news is that San Jose, which is Silicon Valley's big sister, plummeted 82 spots in 2010 Best Performing Cities Index, coming in at 132 out of 200 ranked metros in U.S.

A look at the current list of fast growing cities, shows second tier cities with nearby military bases. The Fort Hood area is ranked number one. This is not a good sign. A country where top growth is the military industry is a dying country.
