Paging Paul Krugman 14: More Stealth Price Inflation

Scott leaves a comment:

I noticed that Jarritos sodas quietly lowered their sodas from 13.5 ounces to 12.5 ounces per bottle. Side by side, the bottles look the same. I wonder how many people will notice. By the way, the best sodas all come from Mexico, including Coke and Pepsi, and are made with cane sugar and sold in glass bottles!
Hey Paul,

I hope you are coming with a column with plenty of charts that will explain away all these downsizes, which as you know on the surface appear to be stealth price hikes.

  1. Hey, Paul. Explain this one: cost of 12 days of Christmas items are up over 10.8% from last year.

  2. I walked into a 7-11 the other day and noticed a "regular" sized candy bar is well over $1 here in my state. Not the "king size", but a REGULAR candy bar.

    Unreal.

  3. Robert: Obviously these greedy downsizes have to do with greedy corporations being all greedy and stuff. There cannot possibly be any other explanations!

Anon #2 : I just noticed the same thing here in Austin, TX
