The Steve Jobs and Rupert Murdoch Attempt to Break the Back of Free Internet News Content

Rupert Murdoch  and Steve Jobs are preparing to unveil a new digital "newspaper" called the Daily at the end of this month, reports the Guardian.

According to reports, there will be no "print edition" or "web edition".  It will cost 99 cents a week.

I reported on this back in August. Without the ability to link and copy via the iPad, Jobs and Murdoch are attempting to take news out of the internet "free zone".

This is really going to be fascinating to watch and, obviously, very content driven. He's going to need tons of powerfuloriginal stories. The equivalent of coming up with an HBO Sopranos, every day of the week, to get people to pay.
