Charges Seriuosly Upgraded Against Assange!!

This isn't Big Brother anymore. It's the Evil Master. Charges against WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange have bizarrely and mysteriously been upgraded. ABC news reports:
In mid-August, two Swedish women told prosecutors and news outlets they had each had consensual sex with Assange, but that he didn't use a condom against their wishes and subsequently refused to get tested for sexually-transmitted disease. Their complaint led to a warrant on charges of sexual molestation.

But now prosecutors allege Assange forcibly raped at least one of the women and sexually assaulted the other -- significantly more serious allegations than what investigators initially pursued.

  1. I always thought Sweden was neutral.
When did they decide to lay prostrate before the Empire ?

  2. Actually, these charges have been around for quite a while; they are not new. What is new is that Assange was arrested, undoubtedly because of U.S. and, perhaps, other countries pressuring the Swedes. The reason that the Swedes haven't been pushing the case very hard is that, in the words of one attorney who reviewed the [public] evidence, the case is rather weak.

  4. Will we have pograms against bloggers critical of the USG? Everything anyone publishes on the net is archived and it only takes a little sluthing to discover the real name and location of the respondible party.

We seem to be going down a vary familiar path (at least to anyone who has some knowledge of history).
