Bradley Manning and Mohamed Bouazizi

President Obama  praised “the courage and dignity of the Tunisian people” and said:
The United States stands with the entire international community in bearing witness to this brave and determined struggle for the universal rights that we must all uphold, and we will long remember the images of the Tunisian people seeking to make their voices heard.
At the same time, Pfc. Bradley Manning continues to be subjected to psychological torture in the United States.

Juan Cole examines the situation here.

  1. To me it seems obvious that you don't have an authoritative moral voice when you're the commander-in-chief of the raping and pillaging of two (at least) entire countries.

    But what do I know?
