Consumer Prices Show Largest Gain in 18 Months

The Consumer Price Index increased 0.5 percent in December on a seasonally adjusted basis, the
Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today, an annualized rate 0f 6.0 percent and the largest increase in 18 months.

The energy sector led the climb with an increase of 4.9% for the month of December and a 12 month gain of 13.9%.

With Bernanke money printing showing no signs of stopping, expect the CPI to continue to climb, perhaps closing out 2011 at a double-digit increase.
