Former Senator Bayh Enters the Revolving Door

The former Democratic senator Evan Byah has joined Apollo Global Management, the New York private equity firm.

He joins the firm as "a senior adviser with responsibility for public policy," according to Apollo.

Apollo is run by billionaire dealmaker Leon Black. The firm has $57.8 billion in assets under management. I attended the 2007 Michael Milken Conference, just before the subprime crisis hit. Black spoke on a panel that was moderated by Milken. There were only about 20 of us in the room and he was openly amazed at that time that money was still flowing into deals. He indicated that the firm would continue to accept funds as long as the money flow continued, but he also made it clear he didn't expect it too last very long.

  1. Bayh has long been a PEU water carrier. Next up, Chris Dodd.

Another Friday afternoon news release. I haven't seen one this good since Orszag's $3 million Citi gig.
