The New Republic has a new puff piece out by Noam Scheiber on Treasury Secretary Geithner, The Escape Artist: The Remarkable Resurrection of Timothy Geithner.
Usually, there is a reason for these pieces relative to some upcoming strategy or positioning, but this piece seems to be just a lot of air with nothing to grab on to. It just sort of hangs out there in a useless kind of way. Strange.
What a fine example of puffery....or blow (double u)-iation, if you prefer. Almost as good as Bethany McLean's burnishing of Hank Paulson in Vanity Fair.
ReplyDeleteI guess, now that Mr. Geithner has survived, he might as well survive as George Marshall (seriously!).
What is this all about?
Noah Schreiber's upcoming book, I suspect.
Finance-wise, remember that Geithner is pulling in the "unbanked" sector (running into the hundreds of millions of heads) into the clutches of the banksters.
I guess that's his Marshall Plan...
