If we learn there is no commercial interest in the film, I doubt there will be a second or third one. But at this point, we’re the third most ticketed film on Fandango, so I don’t have any reason to believe that we won’t be successful.For a very low budget film (made for under $10 million), third most bought ticket is a great start.

I've just returned from seeing it tonight...at a Regal cinema in a fairly prominent suburb of Columbia, SC....sad to say only around 10 people in the theater...hopefully that won't be an overall indicator of its success as I'd like to see the final 2 installations of the story on the big screen.
ReplyDeleteI thought the movie's production value was quite high given the budget...and pretty faithfully translated despite the minor time change issues.
I read someplace that only 7% of the "professional" reviews gave the film a positive rating so far, yet 86% of those polled after seeing the film like it....what a disconnect. I wonder if the reviewers are "left" leaning as their colleagues in the dying newspapers and media.
How Atlas Shrugged isn't mandatory reading for High Schoolers is beyond me and I'm sad to say I didn't read it until a few years ago @ the age of 36. It had a tremendous impact on my philosophically even at that age. I managed to get through "Great Books" I & II in college without ever knowing if its existence....
I'm pretty convinced that education establishment has tried to shove this book down the memory hole.
That being said the movie is well worth the time and maybe it will reach out and touch a few more people before we see a dollar collapse or hyperinflation.
I attempted to get my high school economics class to read Atlas Shrugged.

It was "too long", etc. They had from August to April to complete the book review.
