Robert Paul Says Texas Senate Bid Unlikely

Yesterday evening, Robert Paul told a group of students at the University of North Texas that it isn't likely he will enter the race to replace retiring Texas Republican Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

"I'm honored that people think I'm ready to run, but I think they want me to run because I'm related to Ron Paul," said Paul, who has a family medical practice near Fort Worth, TX. "I think the biggest thing I have that's similar to my dad is that I'm honest."

Robert describes himself as a fiscally conservative, anti-war Republican. He didn't rule out running for office altogether, according to the Star-Telegram, but he said the 2012 race for the Texas Senate seat isn't the place to start.

  1. I hope he turns out to be what I had hoped Rand Paul would be -- like his father, more concerned with telling the truth and nurturing the right ideas than with getting elected. No pandering to neocons with fear-mongering about Iran and Muslims.

Robert, speak the truth boldly, like your dad, and good things will happen. Maybe not right away, but they will. When your ideas are attacked, even unfairly, do not hide from them, or backtrack. Take the opportunity to defend them and educate others. You might not win them over to your position but you will show them that you are not the cartoon villain being painted by your opponents.
