IMF Chief Strauss-Kahn Under Suicide Watch

A law enforcement official and a union official say International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who has been charged with sexually attacking a maid in the NYC Sofitel Hotel, is under a suicide watch in jail.

Norman Seabrook heads New York City's corrections officer union. He told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Strauss-Kahn was under the watch at Rikers Island.

A law enforcement official confirmed that Strauss-Kahn was placed under watch after undergoing a mental health evaluation. The official spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of prisoners' medical information.

  1. Suicidal?

Who wouldn't be after this level of public humiliation?

Nothing like a salacious story to get every twit in journalism frothing.

    Perp walks, hearsay, innuendo...

I never thought I'd defend the poster child of the Eurocracy...but jeez.

Mind you, I think DSK might well have done the deed. But guess what, the IMF, BIS and Fed have been screwing far more people far worse, for far longer...

And that doesn't seem to bother anyone...

  2. Any truth to the rumor that he is suicidal because he shorted Silver at $27 per Abby Prechter Doolittle's recco?

  3. What's the problem if he kills himself? Saves taxpayers money for this charade.

  4. He had plenty of enablers.

As long as he was "just" seducing and manipulating women under his power (like former subordinates) or making advances to young women from his own race and class, he was what everyone tells men they should be - lecherous and coarse.

[Way to go dude! etc, etc.]

But now that years of this hidden predation bear fruit (as they will, whenever such a man comes across a woman who is racially and socially an easy mark)...now the enablers are "shocked, shocked, I tell you"....

  6. He could be Ted Bundy as far as I am concerned, it still appears they took him out for other reasons.

  7. Every time I hear this, I can't help thinking of Alice's Restaurant when Arlo gets thrown in jail for littering, and the take the toilet seat and make him give up his belt.

  8. @Anonymous.

    True.

Besides, in alleged crimes of this type, I think the names of the suspect AND the victim should both be under wraps, until there's a conviction.
