Bestselling thriller writer Stuart Woods has three houses. One in Maine, one in New York City and one in Florida. The houses are identical. He lives in them based on which is closet to 70 degree weather.
According to WSJ, he has decorated each one nearly identically, attiring them almost exclusively in Ralph Lauren furnishings, including leather chairs, tweed curtains, sofas and beds. Each one of the four yellow labs he's owned has been named Fred, each replaced by a new Fred upon death.
Woods spends most of his time in the office, where classical music booms from the satellite radio. The room is also wood paneled—even the tissue holder is wood paneled. As is the case in all three of his homes, Woods' writing desk is in a windowless corner with the same monitor and keyboard, a printer to the left and the same telephone system. "You don't want to have to relearn stuff," he said.
