Steve Wozniak Prints His Own Two Dollar Bills (For Real)

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak prints his own two dollar bills. This guy definitely has some libertarian instincts. He also at one time used a "Department of Defiance" ID.

UPDATE: An anonymous poster directs to Wozniak's private web page, where the prankster explains a visit from the Secret Service and what he really does: http://woz.org/letters/general/78.html

  2. I wonder how he conducts his monetary policy since he has his own printing machine.

  6. I know you've gotten some flack for posting stories that aren't 100% related to economics, but this is the greatest post I've seen in my time visiting here!

The Woz rocks! The book "Cryptomonicon" (a wonderfully libertarian book, BTW) discusses the concept of "fuck you" money (the main character even has a spreadsheet that constantly updates the total needed) and Woz is a perfect example. I wish they would arrest him- it would show the insanity of fiat money!

  7. After reading Woz's site, I found that he doesn't actually print the currency. He has a fun way of confusing the issue to make it look like he might be a counterfeiter. Good fun! He takes the legitimate sheets of bills that you can get from the treasury then he gets a printer to stick them all together and perforate them.

  8. must be nice to be able to buy money at a 3:2 loss just to f**k with The Man...

    I love this guy.

  9. I'm with Anonymous, his site says he buys the sheets, then puts them into pads. I think he's fooling the audience in the clip (which he likes to do apparently). The host makes a clarification, but he never explicitly confirms it, although he lets us believe it, by saying he sells the sheets for $5 each (an obvious loss if they were purchased sheets, instead of printed). Something sure smells fishy here. ^_^

  10. Woz has always been a nice, fun guy. That's why it was Jobs who made all the money!
I'd rather hang with Woz any day.
